Jesus in my Heart

Monday, August 31, 2009

Since communion at Lifepoint, I have been talking to Cade about getting saved. A few weeks had passed, but after service Sunday, Cade ran up to me and asked "Dad are we going to talk to Pastor Phil"? My immediate thought was "about what", but I instantly remembered and said, "Ohhhhhhh yes." Cade walked with a smile and was so proud to be getting saved. After the church cleared I discussed with Pastor Pike what was on Cade's mind. Cade replied, "I wanna get saved and have Jesus in my heart". His words simply melt me. With an overwhelming feeling of joy, I was fighting back tears. Cade and the Pastor went to his office and what came out was a bright and wonderful smile. I wasn't there when Jonah was saved. He was on a church retreat. So the feeling as a father was overpowering. I could only imagine what our Father feels when a soul is saved. I am soooo proud and soooooo blessed.

Jonah + Cade

Monday, April 7, 2008

Easter weekend I made time to take the boys to the beach for a photo ssesion. I took Jonah downtown Charleston to Quicksilver, the only location in the Carolinas. We picked up a pair of shorts, a shirt, some kickin' shoes and a hat,. Then jumped across the street to J. CREW for Cade and purchased a pair of shorts, a long sleeved shirt and some colorful flops. From the beach to eating pizza and calzones at Andolini's, room service, Baskin Robbins and watching I Am Legend we had a awesome time.

Give me your MySpace pose!!!!

I try to capture personalities with children, and I can't tell you how much this photograph says about Cade. He is just the coolest kid ever. I LOVE this photo.

His voice is about as sweet as this photograph. Oh and Cade is actually in photo club. He may be the next Storyteller.

Though they compete with each other, brotherly love exists.

A model for sure. J.Crew needs to giv Cade a contract.

Cade being cade.

Jimmy V Foundation

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

I am a sports fanatic. I love playing as well as watching. There are some moments in sports that just are undefinable like the New York Giants beating the New England Patriots and "The Catch" simply remarkable. Life and sports can easily be linked and talked about in the same sentence, and I don't think I have ever heard a Coach or player talk so intimately than Jimmy Valvano giving us his speech at the ESPY's. Jimmy V. coached NC State and led a Cinderella Team to a National Championship. I remember as a boy watching the game and being awestruck at the last second shot. I thought it was goaltending at first until I watched the replay over and over. Needless to say Jimmy V. is a great coach. Later in his career he was fighting cancer and was honored by ESPN and received the Arthur Ashe award. At the ESPY's he gave his "Don't give up. Don't ever give up." speech. It touched my soul. Deep inside I saw a man who was stripped of the world's heavy burdens, and what you see is the man himself. His words are filled with wisdom and a purity. His words are simple and not complex' yet they speak volumes. I have made his quote of "If you laugh, you think, and you cry that's a full day. That's a heck of a day." the official quote of the business. There are so many emotions that a bride and groom experience on their wedding day and documenting this day is something I am honored to do. For the newlyweds, friends or family to look back on these moments a month after or for generations to come I know that this life event is something that is truly significant. .

Jimmy V. passed a little over a month after giving this speech. His will was mighty and his speech was poetic. The Jimmy V Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure against cancer. I have spoken to the organization and we will be donating a significant amount of funds to them through future campaigns. I will keep everyone posted on this in the upcoming months so that everyone can get involved.

New Year's Resolutions

Monday, February 11, 2008

Not only do I want to talk business here I also would like to share personal struggles, and triumphs that I may be going through. Mainly because I want my boys to be able to look back and get a glimpse into the past. I do keep a personal handwritten journal as well, and in January I decided to write my 2008 New Years Resolutions and here they are:

1) Challenge my Faith and Grow Spiritually.
2) Be Happy
3) Raise Money for the Jimmy V. Foundation
4) Pass a sense of wisdom to my boys
5) Build Business to Business Relationships
6) Blog it Up!
7) Birthday Cards for Everyone
8) Give Back to the Community

So far so good. I am making strides in all these thus far. If you haven't documented your Resolutions I challenge you to do so and if you have a blog or myspace post them up. I think a visual reminder of our desired accomplishments or goals aspire us and keeps us focused.
